2022 SARC Preview
SARC 2022 Calendar Announcement
The Motorsport Australia SA Rally Panel is excited to announce details of the MRF SA Rally Championship for 2022.
The championship will again be contested over 4 rounds – with one event taking a break and a new, exciting event being added to the calendar.
The season will kick off with round 1 in June at the AGL Rally SA – Rally of the Heartland in Burra. To be held over 3 days in 2022, competition will start on Friday 3rd of June and conclude on Sunday 5th. The SARC component will run on all 3 days – across more than 250km of all-daylight stages. Entries for this popular event are already running at about 50% and filling fast.
Competitors will then have plenty of time to re-group and recover, with a 10-week break before round 2 at the Copyworld Walky 100 in and around Eudunda on Saturday 13th of August. This event will test the stamina of crews as the distance has been extended even further this year – up from 150km in 2021 – and still all in one day. For those who have competed in the Walky100 for many years, some new and refreshed stages have been added to keep things interesting.
Round 3 is an exciting new event for 2022 – the MSS Safety Rally Barossa to be held on Sunday 18th of September in and around the hills of the Barossa Valley. Like the fine wines made in the area, these roads have all the characteristics required for an enjoyable event, with a bold new section so close to history you could touch it. This is sure to be a fantastic addition to the SARC in 2022 – and hopefully for many years to come.
The championship will wrap up just 5 weeks later at the AGI Sport Adelaide Hills Rally on Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd of October. After last-minute cancellations in both 2019 and 2020 due to Covid19, the return of this event will no doubt be eagerly anticipated. Once again doubling as a round of the Australian Rally Championship, this event will give local competitors the chance to mix it with some of the best teams from around the country.
For those looking to join in the action at lower speeds (and cost), a Regularity series looks likely to form part of the calendar in 2022 as well – with a Regularity section all-but confirmed for the first 3 SARC rounds.
The Clubman Series will also run again in 2022 – providing some exciting competition for eligible competitors. More information on the Clubman (and Regularity) series will be provided soon.
